Tan Jing (b. 1992, Guangdong) is an artist working across sculpture, moving image, and installation. Her practice engages materials, archives, folktales, and sensory traces to explore histories of movement and exchange across waters, borderlands, and evolving cultural landscapes. Working with affective and material fragments, she constructs shifting worlds between lived reality and speculation, where overlooked lives emerge through what remains. Scent often serves as both material and method within her practice, guiding investigations into how perception, memory, and desire are shaped through sensory and cultural systems.

Tan has participated in Shanghai Biennale (2025). Tan’s work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including Sprueth Magers (Berlin, 2024), Rockbund Art Museum (Shanghai, 2023), Para Site (Hong Kong, 2021), HB Station (Guangzhou, 2021), Guangdong Times Museum (Guangzhou, 2020). Tan received the Dangxia Youth Art Prize in 2022. 

In 2027, she will be an artist-in-residence at the Jan  Van Eyck Acadamie.
